The Harsh Truth Every Business Owner Needs!

Updated: Aug 7

In a basketball team, what’s the most important position?

Well, I'll tell you and probably at the beginning you will not agree with me, but you will.

You might think it’s the star player. The top scorer. The fastest runner. The strongest defender, but you’d be wrong.

The most important part of any basketball team is the coach.

Yes - the coach.

Not the one making the shots, but the one making the team work.

A great coach can take an average team with a low budget, without the best players, and turn them into champions.

A good coach can take a a team, a basketball team with a budget of $10 million and win against a basketball team with a budget of $200 million.

It’s not theory. It’s happened many times throughout sports history.

If they have the best coach, they will win.

Why? Because the coach determines the efficiency of the team.

Efficiency means each player gives more than what’s expected, and not only do they give more, but they pass the result down the line to the next person who adds even more value.

The coach is the one who makes sure things flow.

The coach is responsible for results.

The coach is everything.

The same applies for a business.

Now, what does that mean for you and your business?

In business, the owner is the coach...

But here’s the trap:

Most owners also try to be the CEO, the product manager, the salesperson, and more.

They get so involved in daily problems and execution that they lose their position as the coach.

When that happens, they’re no longer exterior to the problem, they become part of the problem.

Every time you get sucked into handling issues, or doing the actual work, you stop leading. You lose your ability to create flow. You stop being the coach and your business suffers.

What’s the solution?

The only way for a business owner to actually expand, to actually succeed, to actually do what it is supposed to do is to have a coach.

Yes, you, the business owner, need a coach too.

A good coach will help you:

  • Spot the flaws in your business

  • Step out of the day-to-day operations

  • Replace yourself gradually, with a clear plan

  • Truly become the owner and not the operator

  • Train your team to win without needing you in the game every time

Once you're fully functioning as the owner, your role changes.

You no longer need the same kind of coach. At that point, you’ll need a different type of coach, a goal coach, to help you operate from a higher level.

Firstly, you need to get there.

If you want your business to win, stop trying to be the star player.

Start being the coach.

If you want to be the best coach possible - get a coach.

It’s the only way you can truly lead, scale, and succeed. Thank you, and enjoy the video below.
